About

Blair McKinnon was an incredible individual and if you had known him, you would have been touched with the friendship and generosity he shared with so many. In April of 2010 we lost a friend, a son, a brother and a community leader. He was only 30 years old.

To honour the dreams of our friend Blair McKinnon, his family, friends and business associates wanted to continue his legacy of community involvement and created the Celebrity Football Game to raise funds for the organization he co-founded, the Young Professionals of Nanaimo (YPN).

Jason Mckinnon, on January 19th 2012 the mckinnon family lost another great man who had been working with roger to fill Blair’s role as Roger’s right hand. Jason had organized and played in the last two celebrity football games and was involved in a variety of charity events…so this year we are playing “In Memory of Jason Mckinnon”.

Last year’s game was a huge success with over $130,000 being raised for the major project of the YPN, restoring the Nanaimo Train Station that had been a victim of arson.

Drawing from the spirit of Blair, the football game will be continuing by supporting causes that he believes in. This year, proceeds will go towards the YPN, The Nanaimo Comunity Hospice Society and For the Vancouver Island University Foundation for scholarships on behalf of the Blair Mckinnon Memorial Foundation.

The game will be held at 5:30 pm on June 14th, 2012 at Caledonia Field.
